The History of PIE, Inc.

PIE, Inc. is a new firm, incorporated in December 2002.  PIE, Inc. is owned by the two of us: David W. Allen, Jr. and Mary C. Allen, husband and wife, and business partners.  In order to get our business started (and to keep our costs as low as possible for our clients), we are working out of our home.

David Allen

David W. Allen, Jr. is the President and founder of PIE, Inc.  David started in the health care industry in 1978 after graduating from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in economics.  From 1978 to 1984, he worked for PruCare, the Prudential Insurance Company's HMO division.  In 1984, he left to become the Executive Director of Central Oklahoma Medical Group in Oklahoma City, a multispecialty group practice.  In 1987, he accepted a position as Executive Director of Psychiatric Services of Houston, a medical group and psychiatric hospital management company.  In 1989, he co-founded The Chancellor Group, a nationally recognized consulting firm specialized in strategic health care initiatives.  In 1995, he sold The Chancellor Group to RSM McGladrey, then the nation's 8th largest consulting firm, and became a principal and their National Health Care Industry Coordinator.  In 1999, he left McGladrey to become the President of Minnesota Specialty Physicians, a network of more than 50 independent specialty clinics serving the Twin Cities region.  Effective January 1, 2003, David will be spending his full time directing the services of PIE, Inc. Mary Allen

Mary C. Allen is the Vice President, Operations of PIE, Inc.  Mary's been the brains behind David since 1982.  As Vice President, Operations, Mary is responsible for anything that goes wrong, as well as anything that David can't or won't do.  This includes pretty much everything involving administration, accounting, billing and accounts payable.  Here's a recent picture of Mary, hard at work at her PIE, Inc. desk (click to see it full size):

Other Important Personages (and a Canine)

Many who talk to us over the phone wonder who's barking in the background.  That would be Rousseau (click to enlarge the picture, but believe us it still won't be full size):

And then, there are our two sons: Treb and Matt.  Treb's mostly away at Williams College, where he's a sophomore, but Matt's often around since he's a senior at Jefferson High School.
